Who do you think has the best vocals? (other than mj of course :cheeky:)

Please provide links/clips so we can hear

Personally I like the sound of strong, bell clear voices so my votes go to

Females:
Tina Arena - I think this is the only one of her songs that went anywhere in the U.S but she was huge and is extremely successful in Australia. This is her performing 'Burn' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ml319smcbek
Giorgia - She's Italy's answer to Mariah. This is her cover of 'Who Wants to Live Forever' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtYA7Y0pqvM

Males:
Stevie Wonder: He's amazing, especially live. I don't think I need to convince anyone of his brilliance so I will stop. Love Ribbon in the sky - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO2-kIqsGL4
Freddie Mercury: Seeing as I put Giorgia's cover up thought it was only fair to put the original 'Who Wants to Live Forever' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC4ZOxpu2rs

I was thinking about that subject some days ago. For me Michael of course has the perfect male voice, it's just ...perfect. I think I don't have to explain here :)
I would say that Stevie Wonder has a very very amazing voice too... and I actually should listen to him more often. I also like NeYos voice very much.

And now the "funny" part when I thought about it a few days ago... I couldn't find any female artists that could stand close to Michael. I don't mean that no female singer has a great voice - I mean there is always something that... I don't like that much... a tone, the colour of the voice at a certain tone, etc - difficult to explain.
But if I ignore that I'd say Mariah Carey and Beyonce.

Oooohhh... One female singer came to my mind that I really enjoy, such a beautiful voice, she's german and her name is Cassandra ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwjknJzhqBY )

But IMO I like male voice much more than female :D

In terms of voice - Jan Werner Danielsen!

He is a Norwegian singer who was also taken from us way before his time, he died from heart problems at 30 :(

His performance of "Air" at the Nobel peace prize concert in 2003:

I love that performance, it's simply amazing. :D

I like Neyo's voice too and that Cassandra girl's voice reminds me a little of Rihanna's voice.

Hmmm other that Mike... if it comes to males I think Robert Plant, Ray Charles, Bon Jovi, Prince, Elvis... and if comes to females - Tina Turner, Aretha Frankin...

Male - (other than Mike) Stevie, Marvin G, Al Green, Smokey
Female - Aretha, Minnie R. Phyllis Hyman, Karen Carpenter, Stephanie Mills

Well Michael is always going to be number 1 to me. And the greatest singer ever. But I think these singers are just as good as Michael:

Males:

Sting

Stevie Wonder

Part Time Lover (One of my most favorite 80s songs)

AR Rahman

Dil Se Re

Females:

Candice Night-She is the singer from the Blackmore's Night. I think she is extremely pretty. I just love her voice. Here is 2 of her songs:

Way To Mandalay

Just Call My Name (I'll Be There)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ed6uyNqh-pY&feature=related

Shubha Mudgal-She one of the greatest Indian singers ever. This song of hers was in the Bollywood movie Raincoat. Which is one of the most greatest romance movies ever made.

Mathura Nagarpati

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LN4LVIg9Qc

Since this song is entirely in Hindi. Here is the English translation of that song:

Subah subah ka khyaal aaj
Early in the morning the thought arose
Wapas gokul chal mathura raaj
to go back to Gokul, in the king of Mathura's mind
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum gokuljaaon
Oh lord of Mathura why are you going to Gokul
Manohar vesh chhod nand raaj
Leaving this beautiful attire oh son of Nanda
Sar se utaarke sundar taaj
Removing the beautiful crown from your head
Raj dand chhod bhumi par vaaj
Giving up ruling this world
Phir kaahe baansuri bajaao
Why are you playing the flute again?
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum gokuljaao
Oh lord of Mathura why are you going to Gokul
Kaun sa anokhageet gaye pee kakool
What unique song did the cuckoo sing
Raj paat jaise aaj bhaidhool
That made you leave the throne like so much dirt
Kaun sa anokhageet gaaye pee kakool
What unique song did the cuckoo sing
Birhan laage phir hridaya akool
That the pangs of separation are stirred anew
Raj kaaj man na lagaao
The heart is no longer in kingly matters
Mathura nagarpati kkahe tum Gokuljaao
Oh lord of Mathura why are you going to Gokul
Poor naari saari vyakul nayan
Men and women watched with anxious eyes
Kusum sajaa lage kantak shayan
The flowers strewn on the bed felt like thorns
Poor naari saari vyakul nayan
Men and women watched with anxious eyes
Raat bhar madhav jaagat bechain
As Maadhav stayed awake the whole restless night
Kaahe aadhi raat saarathi bulaayo
Why did he call the charioteer in the middle of the night
Mathura nagarpati?..
Dheere dheere pahunchat jamuna ke teer
Slowly he reached the shores of the Jamuna
Sunsaan panghat mridul sameer
Lonely banks, soft breeze
Dheere dheere pahunchat jamuna ke teer
Slowly he reached the shores of the Jamuna
Khan khan madhav birha madeer
Madhav felt the bittersweet pangs
Use kaahe bhool na paao
Why can?t you forget her
Mathura nagarpati?.
Tumhari piriya ab puri gharvaali
Your love is now a complete housewife
Doodh navan ghivoo din bhar khaali
Getting new milk and busy the whole day
Biraha ke aansoon kab ke,ho kab ke ponch daali
The tears of separation have long since been wiped away
Phir kaahe dard jagaao
Then why awaken the pain again
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokuljaao
Oh lord of Mathura why are you going to Gokul

Michael is of course the best male singer to ever live but there are tons of other great singers as well.

the male singers i think can really sing would have to be
Taylor Hanson
Isaac Hanson
Zac Hanson
Adam Lambert
Justin Timberlake
Chris Daughtary
Kris Allen
Ryan Cabrera

Female
Pink
Christina A.
Alanis Morrisette
Janet Jackson
Britney Spears
Jordin Sparks
Rihanna

Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury. And yeah, Jim Morrison of course. Awesome singers every single of those but very different from each other.

And there's dozens of Finns out there but I am not going to list those because people don't know them. :(
