The "Bad" tour spanned the globe with stops in 15 countries on 4 continents, and included 123 concerts to about 4.4 million people.

Some Interesting Facts

The "Bad" World Tour is Michael Jackson's first ever solo tour.

Michael's 1987 - 1989 "Bad" World Tour is the largest tour in history! This tour is also the highest grossing concert tour ever, grossing over US$ 125 million, more than any other entertainer has ever grossed on a single tour!!!

One "Bad" concert in Yokohama, Japan in September 1987 at Yokohama Stadium was recorded by Nippon TV and later televised in many countries.

During the "Bad" tour stop in Sydney, Australia, on November 20, 1987 Stevie Wonder made a surprise appearance on stage. Michael and Stevie performed "Just Good Friends" live as a special treat for the lucky fans!

On March 3, 1988 Michael performed a "private" concert at New York's Madison Square Garden. All the proceeds were donated to the United Negro College Fund. Tickets for the show could not be purchased at ticket box offices.

A special lottery system determined who was to receive tickets. During the show, Michael hit the headlines for kissing Tatiana Thumbtzen on stage during a great performance of "The Way You Make Me Feel". [Tatiana Thumbtzen is known from her appearance in Michael's "The Way You Make Me Feel" video clip].

On June 16, 1988 Michael performed a sell-out concert in Basel, Switzerland. Amongst celebrities at this show are Elizabeth Taylor and Bob Dylan. While in Basel, Michael met with Mrs. Oona Chaplin, the widow of one of Michael's all-time heroes, Charlie Chaplin. The Chaplin family moved to Vevey, Switzerland in 1953 [when they purchased the elegant Manoir de Ban on Lake Geneva], during Oona's pregnancy with their fifth child, Eugene.

On September 8, 1988 Michael received a special award by London's Wembley Stadium management for setting a new record for playing more dates at Wembley Stadium than any other artist!! His 7 sell-out concerts were attended by 504'000 people. A distinction that earned him another entry in The Guinness Book Of World Records.

During the "Bad" tour, Michael performed "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" live on stage with background singer Sheryl Crow.

At every "Bad" tour stop, during "She's Out Of My Life", one lucky girl was allowed to dance with Michael on stage.

I noticed two things in the Osaka concert, October 12..

1- there's another laugh before the Vincent Price one

2- At the end of Bad performance, they played the studio version of the song (dunno if this happened in previous concerts)

Do you think that a female was needed on stage for the Thriller performance before the dancing scene, like what the The way you make me feel included.. !

Well I understand the song lyrics aren't about love or attraction like TWYMMF.. but the music video included a Ola Ray as a female partner of MJ, like what it was in TWYMMF video.. but the Thriller performance didn't had it despite that the lyrics had many YOU.. YOU (You hear the door slam/
You feel the cold hand...) only MJ appeared on stage before the dance

It was played through the PA system as the audience left the venue. Common practice, but no other recording is that long as people would stop taping right after the MITM encore ended.

In 88 they played DD after the end of the concert, sometimes fireworks went off. On the Victory tour they seem to have played Torture after the end of concert.

That has never crossed my mind. Imo it was always something off about thriller live & NOW IT MAKES 1000% sense. He really should've had a girl on stage for thriller!

Oh, true. I had forgotten about the Rotterdam rec 1.

Having a partner could had been a recreation of Ola Ray’s reaction when she saw MJ with the Zombies.

For example, MJ could have disappeared from the scene and let his partner alone some second look for him in the dark sound effects of wolves with the lyrics of Vincent price The funk of forty thousand years ... before that MJ appears and starts singing with the dancers with his red jacket

I was looking at the map of countries he played apin for the Bad tour. I was wondering why he didn’t visit Denmark, Sweden, and Portugal.

Is there footage of the June 16th 1988 concert in Basel? Bob Dylan, Sophia Loren and Elisabeth Taylor attended that concert.
I wonder if they met back stage. I have always been intrigued by the Dylan/Jackson combination. Bob never said anything after Michael passed away and there are no accounts of them interacting on the WATW session either. Apparently Dylan had a concert the day Michael died and he didn’t even mention him then. I can’t recall anything Michael said about Bob Dylan either.
Now this doesn’t mean anything as Bob Dylan almost never addresses the crowd but still.

So this makes this concert the only proof of Dylan at least respecting him as a colleague.
