who do listen to and say out loud if had have come back during such and such time history would favor them a whole lot better than now? anybody comes to mind for you.

Do you think if Lady Gaga came out in the 80's, she would have been received better?

There would be a Cyndi, Madonna, and Gaga rivalry.. LOLS!

Plus, her electro pop music would probably been a hit, right? I dunno...

I feel like people dismissed her nowadays cause everything's been done before so sometimes she looks like a Madonna wanna be. But then again. if she was famous in the 80's, I doubt that she would have the inspiration she has now... She learned from the past artists how to promote herself. The thing that strikes me about her is her image rather than her music. A reminiscence of young Madonna or even Marilyn Monroe. Style over substance.

Acts that are out today like Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Raul Midon, Brand New Heavies, or Soil & PIMP Sessions would more likely get radio airplay in the 1970's. But it's cool that there are groups now that make real R&B and funk with actual instruments and not the beatmaker R&B that's on the radio and "neo soul".

It depends on the music taste for certain people.

I can't really out artists who are 'out' of this era or something. For example some people would say that Wolfmother belongs in the 70's, but i just see that they are taking a legacy further.

My 2 cents.

Florence & the Machine I think belongs in the 70's when hippy stuff was popular lol. I definitely don't think she belongs to this era. Same can be said for Dita Von Teese even though she's not an artist, but you can clearly see she belongs in the 50's.
