I am having trouble finding the source of this Michael Jackson quote

“I am a very sensitive person. A person with very vulnerable feelings. My best friends in the whole world are children and animals. They’re the ones who tell the truth and love you openly and without reservation. Adults have learned how to hide their feeling and their emotions. They can lie. They will smile to your face and say bad things behind your back. Children haven’t learned those things yet, and they can’t hurt you.”
— Michael Jackson

Does anyone know what interview this came from?

Thank you in advance :)

Robert Hilburn, who worked for the Los Angeles Times, was the source for this quote. I can find a couple of pages of the Interview, where Robert Hilburn traveled with Michael during the "Victory Tour." Randy Sullivan credits Robert Hilburn with quoting Michael Jackson. I shrug my shoulders if this is true.

Robert Hilburn was writing a manuscript for Michael Jackson, but Doubleday turned it down because it wasn't juicy enough. Michael himself ended up writing his own book, "Moonwalk."

You can read the part Two and part Four of a Five part series.

I didn't see the quote you are asking about, but the one article explains about Michael's relationship with children in an eloquent way. I don't see why First Lady Nancy Reagan found this peculiar about Michael.

The quote makes sense though, in regards to something Michael might have said, in that it makes sense!
