Hi all! I've been noticing a lot of newer members popping up lately... anyone want to introduce themselves?? I know it can be intimidating to just jump into conversations with total strangers, especially when it seems like everyone knows each other (we definitely don't haha). But I joined in January 2022 and created my own "new fan/member" thread and it really helped me get to know people and get comfortable on the board. So I thought I'd create this thread for any new members who want to use it, but are maybe shy to kick it off themselves.

Personally, I'd love to know more about anyone on this board who wants to share, new or longtime member. I love learning where in the world people are from, how old people are, how/when they became an MJ fan, what they love about MJ, other musical interests, hobbies, etc. Though, of course, just a quick hello is fine too!

Hope to hear from some of you! And if introductions are not your thing, I'll see you in the threads :)

PS: it may also be a good idea to bump a thread like this every once in awhile, especially as new members join around T40. I checked, but didn't see any recent threads like this but if there is one already, sorry!

Hi!:)
I already found a similar topic here, but it seems to be very old and there is no longer much activity in it :)
So I'll introduce myself here.
My name is Anastasia (hence the shortened nickname), I live in Kemerovo, Russia.
I became a fan of MJ very suddenly, as if something sharply began to push me towards this. It happened in April 2022. And I really regret that I did not find out earlier how incredible MJ is. But here, where I live, the maximum that is heard about him is stupid rumors from the media, his CDs have never been in stores and no goods at all, although everyone knows the Thriller and the moonwalk.
It began with the fact that the film This is it appeared on the TV set-top box and it all started from that.
And it seems I can talk forever on this topic. 😂

I am a photographer, I was educated as a director of a film, photo and video studio, but there is almost no place to work in this direction, only as a photographer or videographer on my own. I would love to work at a film studio, it's like a dream.✨
And many more things I love to do. Music, singing, drawing, reading, writing. I love board games. I love animals, I have 2 cats at home, both were found on the street. And I never get bored🙃✌️

I sort of gradually get used to it here, and I'm always glad to make new acquaintances, I already like it madly here, I want to get to know the people here better. And it's also a great way to learn English better.🤓🤩

Thanks for the "formal" introduction, Ana!! I know we've chatted in a few different threads, but it's so nice to get a collected 'overview' so to speak.

I'm just curious, given that you say there is so little access to MJ stuff in Russia, how exactly did you get exposed to him in April 2022 that led to becoming such a fan?

we have so many convos on here about film/photography. I would love to hear some of your expertise as a photographer in any of the photo threads :)

Thank you for sharing all of this! I have no doubt you will make some lovely friends here :)

In fact, the very first thing that hooked me was the edit that I saw on Tik-tok, and on the same day I came home and saw a poster for the movie This is it on my console. The film was then just added to the gallery. And even though I was 12 years old in 2009, I remember exactly that we didn’t even have this movie in theaters. And I thought that this is literally a sign of the universe, sometimes I believe in such things. I immediately felt this incredible energy that won't let go of me anymore.:)

oh, I am so loving seeing all the new "faces" and some old timers come back :) It was so quiet here couple of months back! Loving all the conversations and stories. I joined back in February this year, so still "new" compared to folks who have been here for decades. Still exploring the threads, thanks to zinnia, lot more than I would have :)

Thanks, I think so too. And I'm glad to be a part of this wonderful family.
It does sort of feel like that, doesn't it?? I am shocked sometimes when I see all the names of people in here regularly who I don't know. But there's a core group I've communicated with on almost a daily basis since March and it's really, really nice :)

I'm from West Palm Beach, Florida, and I'm 30 years old. I have Asperger's syndrome, and am a huge music fan. I've been a lifelong fan of Michael, enjoyed his music and his message quite thoroughly, took it all to my heart, and I've always put myself out there to defend him.

I also like movies, TV, books, video games and history, and I dive into my interests quite thoroughly.

Putting all that together, I've been working on an alternate history timeline project for several years. More about it can be found here: https://www.mjjcommunity.com/thread...featuring-mj-im-working-on-interested.201041/

wow, it’s so interesting to read who lives where, especially for me America and Europe have been a dream since childhood, to see the landscapes of these places, how everything works, people, etc. 😍😊

Is an alternative history created on the basis of some facts or is it more like fiction, like "what would happen if people acted differently"? because I often think about it and imagine, but sometimes it upsets me, because in my imagination everything is kinder and better😅🙃

as soon as I am at my computer, I will read the topic at the link

It's basically a "What if some event happened differently?" approach, but rooted in research on the topic. So it's both.

As for what made me a fan of Michael, I simply loved the music when I heard it for the first time, and especially admired what he did with his short films.

My name is Noah and I am from Arkansas. I have been a Michael Jackson fan since 2008 (I must have been like 5 or 6 years old at the time, I'm 20 now.) I've been slowly getting into collecting MJ stuff like Album CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays etc. I am also a die hard Ghostbusters and The Incredible Hulk (1977) TV series fan. I guess the reason I joined this community here, is to see all of the latest MJ news and happenings, and to try to interact with fellow MJ fans! Michael's music has gotten me through some really hard times, so I'm a moonwalker for life, and I look forward to meeting you all.

Hello! I am very glad that you have joined us. Do you remember what you first saw about Michael?

Love The Incredible Hulk! Michael did, too. That’s a funny thing, that IMDb has Louis Ferrigno listed as “conditioning coach: Michael Jackson” for This is It (see m.imdb.com/title/tt1477715/fullcredits/miscellaneous).

Louis seems to be a really down to earth and nice person.

Hello everyone, Simon here. I'm from the Netherlands and been an MJ fan since I saw Earth Song on MTV as a teenager. I went out and bought Dangerous and Bad on CD that same day and one or two years later I was lucky enough to see him live on his HIStory tour in Amsterdam.

Besides MJ, I love playing video games, making music (piano), photography and our two cats.

I don't really have anyone in my close surroundings that love MJ as much as I do, so it's nice to meet some people here to chat with.

Cheers!

Hi everyone, I’ve been a huge MJ fan for the last 20 years, You Rock My World was my first comeback from him and ever since he’s been the hero for me. Thriller 40 made me want to engage with more MJ fans because they’re very limited in my life so I’m hoping for some good discussions about the King of Pop here.

Hi! I've been lurking for a while but started posting recently. I got to know MJ when he passed away (I was too young to know anything about music at this age, forgive me) and instantly fell in love with him in all possible ways. As a teenager and adult, I became a casual listener. I loved a lot of his songs but (as I mentioned in another thread) the media gaslighted me into believing false stories and underappreciating the king. A couple of months ago, I watched a documentary that really got me obsessed with MJ again. He's a huge part of my life and my muse now.

I'd love to connect with his fans here. If anyone feels like chatting, my DMs are open. I don't really have MJ-obsessed friends (and wannabe wives) in real life and all of my close ones are sick and tired of my new love and hobby
