i'ma huge eminem fan i first started listening to him when i was in 5th grade i love his music his rapping but even thou i didn't like what he did to michael but i'm pretty sure michael forgave him already and i'm huge a fan of d12 too but any listeners

Well i have all his albums so yeah i'm a fan, but he's not one of my fav artists. His last great album was The Eminem Show. Encore, The Re-up and Relapse have all had a number of great songs but they aren't as good as the 3 before.

I can only think of one D-12 and that's My Band - i like that song.

^^ yeah those are 2 of the best along with The Eminem Show... the 3 before Encore ;) The Marshall Mathers LP imo is the best Eminem album with songs like Kill You, Stan, The Way I Am, The Real Slim Shady, Remember Me? and I'm Back, Kim and Criminal

I used to be a big Eminem listener, but as i grew up...the lyrics really didn't mean that much to me anymore. He got incredible skills though, and i did buy Relapse last year, great cd. But i am glad as hell that he's finally quitting with those subject matters that are about...well..nothing really. On his upcoming new cd called Recovery he's gonna be talking about completely different subjects.

His recent song with B.O.B. is great and it's promising for his new cd.

Agree, The Marshall Mathers LP is definitely his best. Some real good ones on that. Between that and Relapse I lost interest but I actually really liked that one. Looking forward to the next one too. I'm a listener and his music interests me, but I wouldn't call myself a fan.

His early work is great. :) I hope he can make a return to form with his new projects.

I think he writes great lyrics, I like his songs like When I'm Gone, Mockingbird, Like Toy Soldiers, Beautiful..

I agree with this post....I think that he is a very deep artist...he draws his inspiration off of his life experiences. I also like his new video with Lil Wayne...whom I dont care for. I also didnt like what he did to Michael. I cannot forgive him for that. But ..yeah I like Eminem..:),

Eminem has some great lyrics to his songs.
I loooove that he gets personal. I have to say my favorite songs by him are Cleaning Out My Closet and Beautiful.

That is just terrible...:bugeyed:...Jeez what was he thinking....omg..thats right he probably wasn't.....Thats why with Michael I NEVER had to be embarrassed to listen to his stuff infront of my children. Stuff like this..that Eminem does is terrible.

Don't tell me that you don't find 2:54 onward from that link to be melodious and catchy.

LOL because the world was so pro-Michael in that period. He could've said "fuck Michael" as his rebuttal to the backlash and gotten away with it at the time. Be real. He apologized in the face of most people wanting him to stir it up. He was even asked if he thinks Michael is a strange human being, a question so many people would have said yes to, and he replied "not really" and said a bunch of stuff about the media that people on this forum always say. He acknowledged that if there was one singer targeted more than him it was Michael Jackson, and said he admired how Michael continues being himself no matter what is said about MJ's behavior. He went way too damn far in his apology to just assume that it was fake. He was repeatedly pressed in the interview to say something negative or make fun of Michael, and he wouldn't do it. Em has never really struck me as the type of guy who's politically correct just for the sake of being politically correct.

The only MJ fans who believe that he apologized because he "had" to are those who WANT and GET OFF on having an additional person to hate on account of Michael (and there are many many many of those fans). Eminem's reply to anyone who's had a problem with his music has always been "fuck you", and he still apologized to the most targeted and ridiculed celebrity on the entire planet at the time of the controversy. The music video was an ill-advised parody that he did for no other reason than the fact that the topic was hot at the time. Get over it.

Must admit i do not follow EMINEM at all and never will. Isn't the black community a significant portion of EMINEM fan base.? If my memory is correct the community was pretty pissed off. And many rap artists especially those responsible for EMINEM 's career pushed him to apologise to MJ.

I think the backlash from the "black community" was exaggerated. It was mostly coming from corporations like BET and veteran entertainers like Stevie Wonders. I really don't think the generation that buys Eminem's music was hurt over it, generally speaking. I'm sure there were black people mad at him, but the whole thing did more to put him in the spotlight than it did harm him. When BET pulled the video off the air, most of the responses I saw were in favor of Em (freedom of speech being tampered with, etc). All in all, I'd say it made him more popular because he was perceived as the "underdog"... even though IMO Michael was the real underdog. I honestly believe that if Eminem had spoken out against Michael's protests, it would have been received just fine considering the perception of MJ in that period.

Pressure from the community forced BET to cave. There was loud outrage in many places including the air waves. And black entertainers of all ages and stripes voiced their anger. The community looked at EMINEM as an ingrate. Never under estimate the silent majority.!!!!

First of all, "silent majority" is the complete opposite of everything you just said. Secondly, I really don't think the average person in Eminem's demographic really gave a flying fuck what he had to say about Michael Jackson. He was still the MTV golden boy. Furthermore, Eminem has always been at his most popular when he's pissing off other celebrities, and this was no different. I'd venture to say that the Michael controversy alone was great promotion for Eminem's then upcoming album. The "harm" inflicted on his career is nothing compared to other controversies he has stirred, mainly within feminists and gays. It's not like people thought he was attacking MJ because of Michael's race. There were a few melodramatic people saying that, but the vast majority wouldn't believe something that retarded.

But whatever bro. If you wanna be hung up on it, be hung up on it. Don't really care to convince you of anything. Just speaking my piece on the subject.

In a hundred years we will never agree about EMINEM. Saw your post about what you do on the computer daily. Think you are quite naughty.!! And oh by the way I AM FEMALE.!!!!

My bad.

One more thing I want to add: Do you (and everyone else who has a similar opinion) remember what the world (or at least America where Em makes most of his sales) was like in 2004? Making fun of Michael Jackson and the accusations against him was THE thing to do. Damn near every comedian -- white/black/latino/purple -- had a field day with the trial. To say that poking fun at MJ was deemed as something socially acceptable is an understatement, ESPECIALLY within young people who represent Eminem's fanbase. As a teenager during that whole thing, I can tell you that the sad reality is that MJ had become a punchline regardless of how good people thought his music was. The reason that the video became so controversial isn't because he mocked MJ, but because Michael himself complained about it which led to BET pulling it off the air. THAT is the reason the parody became such a hot topic. All of you who think Eminem was in a situation where he had to apologize or else the public would turn against him are smoking those funny cigarettes.
