Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

wow, this is strange for me because just yesterday I was at the cemetery where my grandparents are buried (they died a few years ago) and another grave there had this on it, and I just thought of Michael and I cried so much right there, at someone else's grave....but I did feel closer to him.
Thanks for putting this on here.
 
I have heard this read at many funerals, and I find it to be so fitting no matter whom the deceased person is or what the circumstances. I just love it. I find a lot of comfort in this actually...

I feel that this is the right thread for my first post... because I still don't have the words... it's 6 weeks that I'm trying to say something that makes sense and simply can't. Thanks to everyone who's writing here, you're giving a voice to my silence.
