... as in the thumping "boom-tis-boom-tis-boom-tis" beat.

it's used in a wide variety of styles, and a lot of people don't like it but it's been widely used in clubs throughout the past three decades. house, techno and trance use it mostly, and i was never really that into it before - clubbing was always a 2-step garage vibe for me, but for the past year or so i've been getting more into it in the form of idm ("intelligent dance music") with minimalistic beats like this:

Lee Jones

The Secret

Roadwork

Mdmazing

any fans?

i really like that kind of minimal house/techno posted above. those tracks are very atmospheric and relaxing to listen to at night, especially in a club. The Secret and Mdmazing are so hypnotic and are flawing so smoothly, only with subtle changes here and there, i can listen to it for hours and dont get bored. which is quite a rare thing with this genre, lol. so i think Hefner/Lee Jones evolved really beautifully =)

a few other examples of minimal and rather experimental house/techno that i find worth of mentioning:

Gaiser vs. Heartthrob - Nasty Girl

Heartthrob - Slow Dance

Plastikman - Spastic

Akufen - Jeep Sex

and my all-time favourite housey track that has also nostalgic value for me, is this old classic made by a collab called Sturdust (one of the members of the trio was Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk).

Stardust - Music Sounds Better With You

the fact that the whole thing is built on a microsample from Chaka Khan's song Fate makes me appreciate the track even more:

haha yeah Stardust and Chaka's Fate, revisted time and time again in Dance throughout the decades. my favourite 'take' on it is Lady (Hear Me Tonight) by Modjo:

this came out when i was just starting secondary school or near that period, and it's really nostalgic for me for that element. but it's a mesmerising hook in both tracks.

those other tracks you posted above are really beautiful, i've only heard the Akufen ones which i still rinse every now and again. 21st century music fucking rocks.

I love that video, one of my favourite of all time, so simple and effective.
