Bloggers, students try out ARMM automated poll systems

Vanessa Redgrave won as regional vice governor, beating Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Tom Jones, Jennifer Lopez, Brian McKnight and David Pomeranz, Comelec said in a recent blog posting.

The weird, wild and, ultimately, sublime

And boy was there smoke! It wafted up from dozens of small, round metal barbecue tables, turning the air so opaque I could barely make out the enormous wall mural featuring caricatures of Korean celebrities — and Michael Jackson. We clustered around a table, and soon the house specialty arrived: chunks of well-marbled pork neck. (The restaurant's owner was previously a butcher, a good sign.) The meat came pargrilled, to cook faster, and my friends spread kimchi around the base of the grill, where it slowly fried in the rendered pork fat.

Olympic athletes wearing masks could cause China to lose face

Tourists at the Games this summer will have to balance sensitivity to their Chinese hosts with how they feel about health and personal appearance. "It depends on how 'Michael Jackson' you want to get," says Scott Grody, chief operating officer of Fugazy International Travel/American Express, in Boca Raton, Fla.

Short-lived Undeclared has become a legend
http://www.metronews.ca/ottawa/entertainment/article/86648

“We went to this Fox party, which they were trying to make like our farewell thing — they said ‘You guys can come — we’ll give you one more party you can show up to.’ We show up and it’s all purple lighting and there are Madonna impersonators walking around and Michael Jackson impersonators, and I was like, ‘We’re really getting cancelled, aren’t we?’ I can’t think of something that's more an antithesis of Undeclared than That ’80s Show.”
Undeclared might have been canned after 17 episodes, but its DVD box set is a cherished item — a status the three aired episodes of That ’80s show will never enjoy, and Baruchel says that he still gets a kick out of gloating about it all.

ACT’s youthful staging of ‘The Wiz’ delights

Among others, "The Wiz" has served as a star vehicle for Diana Ross, who played Dorothy, and Michael Jackson, who had the role of the Scarecrow.

It’s the pictures that got small

There's no need to restrict ourselves to scripted productions either. There's a whole world of reality television just begging for an injection of talent. Elizabeth Taylor as The Bachelorette is a no-brainer. How hard would it be to round up 15 or 20 middle-aged gentlemen ready to try their luck? And Michael Jackson could MC.

Bang! And the dudes are gone
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jul/21/marketingandpr.mediabusiness

The music industry's relationship with marketing used to be a simple one. Splash out on a river of booze, a mound of cocaine, a few ice sculptures and possibly some scantily clad models for the launch party. Employ an army of people to hype and plug your artist into the charts. Perhaps throw in a handful of embroidered satin jackets. And if you were Michael Jackson, send a 39ft statue of yourself down the Thames.

It was River Cats' mascot Digger's birthday on Sunday and a number of mascots came to Raley Field to celebrate. Here the mascots were dancing to Michael Jackson's hit "Thriller".

Thanks for the news, guys.

MJ supposedly saw "The Dark Night" with his children according to a poster from that Perez Hilton blog. It was posted on the weekend news thread.

OK, guys, I have some news to post. I was going to post it this weekend but something came up. I am not a fan of tabloids but I was curious to see if they had the pics of MJ on a wheelchair and his children. So, I am looking at this tabloids and I saw it. I read what it said and it was not negative or mean. So, I am going to type it up on here. Take it for what it is worth.

Description: Has a big picture of MJ in a wheelchair, on the left bottom of the page, there is a pic of the children. The caption states the following: Michael's Kids Unmasked - On July 7, Prince, Paris, and Prince II (nicknamed Blanklet) shopped with their dad in Las Vegas, where they live. "They're very proper and well-behaved," says an insider. On the top right side of the page, it has a pic of MJ in a wheelchair and the caption state as follows: "He's not sick," insists and insider close to Michael.

Michael Jackson's Shocking Appearance

Is the King of Pop pooped? Making like and invalid, Michael Jackson, 49, was wheeled around Las Vegas on July 7th wearing pajamas, a surgical mask and a black scarf. "He looked frail", says an eyewitness, who spotted the wrapped star at a Barnes and Noble with his rarely seen children - Prince, 11, Paris, 10, and Prince II, 6. But an insider close to the singer says MJ designed the peculiar disguise to draw attention. "Michael loves pretending to be sick to generate publicity," the insider says, noting that Michael will soon have two projects to promote. He's planning a Vegas show in the fall and a new album. "He's been pushed around in a wheelchair before. This is typical of him".

Ok, here is my two cents - I do not believe that MJ likes to pretend to be sick. I find that a bit wrong. However, MJ's sense of humor, if that is true, is def. not my sense of humor. People magazine also did something on MJ and the wheelchair mess but when I saw Bob Jones name, I closed the magazine. LOL.They also stated something about they couldn't reach an official spokesperson to contact about the wheelchair mess. I am just going by memory here. That really stunned me for some reason.

Well I liked that bit, atleast

UK Students Break 'Thriller' Dance World Record

(21-7-2008) According to a report by the Enfield Independent, a secondary school in Enfield (UK) broke the world record for the largest number of people to ever take part in a version of Michael Jackson’s famous ‘Thriller’ dance last week. Previously, the world record was held in Canada with 62 people dancing the routine. This was officially beaten in Enfield with 147 dancers participating and around 700 “extras” - acting as zombies.

Students and staff from Highlands School, in Grange Park, and three local primary schools, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the acclaimed album, with a fundraising performance of the dance. Every participant was asked to contribute a minimum of £1. The event raised over £750 for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity, which builds specialist units around the country for teenagers and young adults who are suffering with cancer.

Simon Davies, the chief executive of Teenage Cancer Trust, said:

“What an incredible achievement for the school to beat the world record.

We’d like to say a huge thanks to all the students and staff involved with this challenge and for raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

This money will help us ensure that young cancer patients get the best possible care in hospital, and the chance to do all the things that other teenagers do. We couldn’t do this without people like Highlands School.”

The Thriller dance has proven to be a popular routine ever since the famous video for the song was released, attracting the attention of worldwide simultaneous dances.

Chrisette Michele is enjoying her success as she finds it

She has collaborated with hip-hop greats Jay-Z and Nas and has a distinct sound that has been compared to Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.

But by listening to her recently released debut album, “I Am,” you wouldn’t guess that Chrisette Michele, a classically trained singer-songwriter, is only 24 years old.

I know you’ve been performing a lot in the past few months, but have you written for any notable artists lately?

Chrisette Michele: I’m scared to say because I don’t want to jinx it but … I just wrote some stuff for Michael Jackson and Jennifer Hudson.

Here`s her space website: http://www.myspace.com/chrisettemichele

That is great. I like the fact that people perform Michael's routine and did it all in the name of charity. That is really great!

Next thing you know MC Hammer is gonna come out saying "yeah i wrote something for Michael jackson's new album. Its a secret though. 2 legit!"

And because it's a very important album, Michael is not going to turn down any song he can get a hold on that is better than the ones he already has. So I think they look everywhere for that great song.
