The 'Big Brother' housemates have passed this week's shopping task. The group had to perform the iconic zombie dance routine featured in the video for Michael Jackson's 'Thriller', with Head of House Rex acting as choreographer and Nicole taking the part of Michael.
“American Idol Live”: Even better than the last time

There were no such snores in Cook's set. Like Chikezie did in the opener, your "American Idol" came out there like it was his show, and that's what a star should do. He filmed the crowd, flirted with people in the audience, and pretty much showed the song interpretation skills and vocal dexterity that made him so charming. Of course he did "Time of My Life," the least-annoying "Idol" single in recent memory, and his now-famed version of Chris Cornell's version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." But it was Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" that raised expectations and the roof. It's a gorgeous song, and Cook did it beautifully — "That's the best I've sung that song!" declared an obviously pleased Cook. He's the real deal.

I would say Nas, old Michael Jackson, Al Green, James Brown, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mobb Deep, Jay-Z. Slick Rick. I could go on forever, man. I listen to way too much stuff to only be influenced by a certain amount of people.
Law and Disorder 8-21

The trial of Peter Jeschke, the former Santa Barbara High School tennis coach accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl on his team, has been pushed back to October as a result of Jeschke switching attorneys. While Santa Barbara attorney Allen Bifano argued for the defense during Jeschke’s preliminary hearing, further proceedings will feature defense lawyer Lara Yerestian, of the Los Angeles law firm Gerragos & Gerragos, best known for representing Winona Ryder, Michael Jackson, and Scott Peterson. Video killed the radio star...
http://www.411mania.com/music/columns/83192
Let's journey back to a time when MTV = Music Television and the whole concept was to play music videos. Yes kids, before "The Hills", before "Punk'd", before "The Real World", even before "TRL", MTV had this really daring concept: they would play music videos almost non-stop 24 hours a day. A basic hour went something like this: play world premiere video from big name artist, play commercials, come back and hear from VJ (video jockey as opposed to radio's disc jockey), usually with some pointless commentary or attempt to be humorous but failing miserably, before introducing more videos, followed by more commercials. Throw in a brief news report on top headlines in the music world from Kurt Loder (usually something about Madonna or Michael Jackson), and then more commercials followed by more videos. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. Pretty simple formula, huh? And check it out – people used to sit around for hours at a time, in a haze of cannabis, watching this stuff. Sometimes MTV would screw with you and throw in a music-themed movie (Purple Rain) or an actual live concert shot by the network for broadcast only on MTV (Journey, David Bowie, .38 Special and Judas Priest were all artists that did MTV-exclusive concerts at the time) and of course a little later down the road, they introduced us to shows such as "Beavis & Butthead" and "MTV Unplugged", but that's enough of a brief history about the channel, let's look at the specific impact some artists/music videos had in the world of music. You look bewildered, Vanessa - do you remember anything from MTV that long ago?

Now we come to perhaps the biggest video of all time and that would be Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Now while I am no fan of Mike, this video was a 13 minute mini-film directed by John Landis and at the time, was the most expensive video ever made and at one time held the record for the "most successful video ever", selling over 9 million units. Of course it also picked up a Grammy award.
Vanessa: What!? You're not a fan of The King of Pop? That's downright Un-American! I see this is something we're going to have address at a later time…
