Starting out as a solo dancer in 1989, having been greatly influenced by Michael Jackson, Luke Kenny was first spotted at a college event. He then joined Arshad Warsi’s dance team as a Chorus Dancer and Assistant Choreographer. A rather humble beginning all the way back in the early 90’s.

Everyone has a story to be told

It was the August 2008 issue of Allure magazine that made me think of Dr. Charles Sophy, a Pottsville native who has gained national media attention as “the celebrity psychiatrist.” The testimony of the 1978 Nativity BVM High School graduate helped hotel heiress Paris Hilton get out of jail early during her legal troubles last year. He also played a part in one of entertainer Michael Jackson’s legal proceedings.

If you are a podcast person of the rock 'n' roll persuasion, get a load of "Sound Opinions." This weekly hourlong talk show, which originates in Chicago and doesn't air in the Boston area, is hosted with passion and winking humor by rock critics Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis. As these guys zip among genres and eras, you're bound to stumble across great new music, from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' (left) latest album to Rhymefest's cool Michael Jackson remixes.

For Madonna, other women, age isn’t material

That's good news not just for Madonna, but for all the others reaching 50 in 2008 - and some famous names pop up. Michael Jackson and Prince are two of the most discussed. But there's also Ellen DeGeneres, Sharon Stone, Christiane Amanpour. Alec Baldwin, Viggo Mortensen. Andie MacDowell, Jamie Lee Curtis, original Sex and the City columnist Candace Bushnell. Michelle Pfeiffer, Annette Bening, Prince Albert of Monaco. And, linking them together as in one of those "Six-Degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon" trivia games: Kevin Bacon.

Who do you listen to on the radio?
I don't really listen to the radio, I prefer my music - people like Pharrell Williams, Michael Jackson and Prince.

Which four people (living or dead) would you invite to a dinner party?
Michael Jackson because he's the greatest; Pharrell Williams - I'm a massive fan; Muhammad Ali because I could just listen to him all day and Superman because he'd have some stories to tell.

100 albums you need to own
http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/news/arts/story.html?id=12fb7ff5-243e-4d95-b920-6a5d4ae24c7b

There are few popular music genres whose precise mood can be substantially captured within the grooves of a single album. Nirvana's Nevermind pulls the full weight of grungy angst, and Michael Jackson's Thriller said everything that ever needed to be said about dance pop. But perhaps no album ever served its genre so fully as the 1977 soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever served the short-lived phenomenon of disco.

For approximately a decade before its release, music had begun to take a more central role in film rather than just serving as soundtrack fodder (witness 1967's The Graduate, 1969's Easy Rider, and 1973's American Graffiti, to name a few). As rock musicals, rockumentaries, concert films, and musical biopics flooded the market in the early 1970s, an article in New York magazine on the Brooklyn disco craze prompted Bee Gees manager Robert Stigwood to produce a film that largely featured his band's music on the soundtrack. (Stigwood would later produce the smash film adaptation of Grease, and the less smashing Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.)

Featuring unforgettable songs that would endure for decades as John Travolta's personal traveling music-- Stayin' Alive, More Than A Woman, If I Can't Have You, Jive Talkin' -- the soundtrack won a Grammy for Album of the Year and strode atop the charts for an amazing 24 weeks, giving every listener who fell under its spell a lifetime affliction of boogie shoes.

Billboard Hot 100 Anniversary

Billboard Hot 100 Anniversary

(18-08-08) In celebration of it's 'Hot 100' Chart, Billboard magazine has begun to publish various lists of musical milestones. These lists are 'teasers' for a massive "Hot 100" of all-time chart, which will be unveiled next month.

Since the "Hot 100" didn't begin until the year 1958 (with Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" as its first No. 1), the all-time list will not include the first three years of the "Rock 'n' Roll" era. That means that there will be no "Rock Around the Clock;" few doo-wop artists and only a small segment of the contributions of Elvis Presley on the all-time list.

The various lists are quite entertaining and, of course, the King of Pop can be found on several different ones. For example, three of the various lists can be found below:

*Songs that reached No. 1 by different artists:

"Go Away Little Girl" - Steve Lawrence and Donny Osmond
"The Locomotion - Little Eva and Grand Funk Railroad
"Please Mr. Postman" - The Marvelettes and the Carpenters
"I'll Be There" - Jackson Five and Mariah Carey
"Lady Marmalade" - LaBelle and Christina Aguilera & Company
"Lean On Me" - Bill Withers and Club Nouveau
"Venus" - The Shocking Blue and Bananarama
"When A Man Loves a Woman" - Percy Sledge and Michael Bolton
"You Keep Me Hangin' On" - The Supremes and Kim Wilde

*The most No. 1 songs by the same artist:

With Elvis ineligible, the Beatles are tops with 20 No. 1 singles, followed by Michael Jackson with 13. The rest of the list includes Madonna and the Supremes with 12, Whitney Houston with 11, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder with 10, the Bee Gees, Elton John and Paul McCartney with 9 and the Rolling Stones and Usher with 8.

*The 100 artists with the best "Top 100" average (To qualify for this list, the artist had to have a minimum of 20 hits, so these are truly the heavy hitters of pop music.):

Three Dog Night came in first. They released 21 singles that, on average, placed No. 12 on the 'Hot 100' chart. Rounding out the top 10 on this list are Madonna (53 singles/No. 14 average), George Michael (28/14.9), Mariah Carey (39/15.3), Janet Jackson (41/16.3), Huey Lewis & the News (22/17.8), Michael Jackson (46/19.2), Hall & Oates (34/21), Bryan Adams (27/21.2) and Lionel Richie (20/21.3)

The big 'Hot 100 of All Time' chart is due out next month and should be fascinating reading for all of you true music fans out there!

where is Mariah Carey?

Re: Billboard Hot 100 Anniversary

LOL, yeah they left out that important fact (Mariah got all her 18 number-one hits during the so-called "Hot 100 era") and technically Elvis still is credited with 17 number-one pop hits in total so it doesn't change a thing.
