HISTORICAL DATES
1971- The Jackson 5 perform at the Dayton Arena in Dayton Ohio.
1972 - Jackson 5ive performed a concert Baltimore, Maryland.
1974 - the Jackson 5 boarded a plane headed for Dakar, Senegal, in the early evening hours. They were scheduled to play their first 3 concerts there, Feb 1st -3rd . This would be their very first trip to the African continent.They landed in Dakar, Senegal, early the next morning, just before sunrise. They were greeted by dignitaries, government officials, traditional dancers, and crowds of fans as they landed, and they were quickly led into a VIP lounge inside the airport for a quick press conference. After meeting with the press, they spent more time watching the dancers, and eventually joined them, trying to learn their steps.
1979 - The Jacksons on the European leg of the Destiny World Tour, performs the second of three nights in Madrid, Spain.
1983 - Billie Jean enters the Billboard US Top 40 singles chart where it will peak at No1 for seven weeks.
1988 - Michael Jackson continues rehearsals for the BAD World Tour's second leg at the Pensacola Civic Center, in Pensacola, Florida. The Rehearsals took place from January 22 to February 18, 1988
1996 - Michael Jackson wins the "Favorite Male Artist (Pop/Rock)" award at the 23rd Annual American Music Awards.
He was not there to receive the award.
