Harlem Gospel Choir to perform Michael Jackson Music Tour Australia

THE world famous Harlem Gospel Choir will return to Australia for a concert tour commemorating the life and music of Michael Jackson.

The choir's Concert of Hope will feature some of the world's most popular Gospel music including Oh Happy Day, Man from Galilee and Celebrate.

A friendship between the choir and the late Michael Jackson dates back to choir's founder, Allen Bailey, and his very first tour with the Commodores who were performing as the opening act for the Jackson 5 on a tour of the United States.

The Concert of Hope will feature some of Jackson's top hits including:
We Are The World, Billie Jean and You Are Not Alone.
Members of the choir were invited to take part in the broadcast of Jackson's funeral service following his death in June 2009.
The choir's Australia tour will begin in Melbourne on April 30, with dates in other cities including Adelaide, Perth, the Gold Coast and Sydney. They will conclude their tour on May 11 in Newcastle.

They were here last year and they were awesome!!!!
Unfortunately, it was not that good in other country (I remember a friend here form the Netherlands, maybe, who was dissapointed; I might be wrong on the country, but I do know he was dissapointed a bit). But in our case, it was sooo emotional and beutiful. We ended up singing WATW and Billie Jean on stage!!!

I went to see them last year and I was a little disappointed because they sang only three Michael's song. I was expecting few more.
 
I wish they did "Earth Song" instead of "You are not alone". I have to admit I don't like You are not alone, while I love Earth Song.
 
Count me in on dissapointed list. We went to see them with 5 friends and all of them felt that we've been used. It felt like they just threw MJ's songs in just to get more people to their show. They were making "tribute" show, but didn't even thank him - there were no words like "we love you", "rest in peace", something about him. Nothing. Only "praise Jesus" between songs. And they sang his songs quite different for my taste. But tastes differ, of course :)

Oh, that's bad. In Chile they did several songs, and very, very well. They had wonderful and sweet words to Michael and, most of all, all the audience was moved, fans and no fans. But well... that was October 2009, maybe they have changed the show. Hope it is good for you in Australia!
 
Harlem choir set to sing the praises of MJ

The world’s most famous gospel choir is headed to Brisbane to pay a special tribute to one of its biggest fans, Michael Jackson.

The Harlem Gospel Choir, famous around the world for its uplifting harmonies and collaborations with artists such as Diana Ross, Cindy Lauper and U2, had close connections with the legendary pop star who died last year.

Choir founder Allen Bailey said the Australian tour would help to remember an "extraordinary man".

"This is a special opportunity for us and we’re looking forward to inspiring the audience with our music and Michael’s inspirational music," Mr Bailey said.

"I knew Michael for a very long time, since he was a kid in the Jackson Five.

"There wasn’t any 'Michael Jackson' back then – just a group of brothers making music together – and he always remained a wonderful, wonderful, humble man."

The choir, which performed at the NBC broadcast of Jackson’s funeral service last year, will honour Jackson by performing some of his most enduring tunes, including We Are The World, Billie Jean and You Are Not Alone.

Mr Bailey said Jackson’s music translated easily into gospel form.

"His background came out of the black church – they (the Jackson Five) had their beginnings there," he said.

"Their mother and father took them and made sure they got to church every week and you know, Michael was a very spiritual man."

Apart from the Michael Jackson music, the choir will also perform some of its most iconic tunes, including Oh Happy Day, Man from Galilee and Celebrate.

The choir will perform for one night only in Brisbane and is expected to be a sell-out.

Mr Bailey said he loved performing in Australia because “the crowds don’t take too much to get going".

"We’ve had a fabulous response from Down Under. We’ve even got some Australians who have seen the choir perform, sell their house and pack up and move to Harlem to be part of the church," he said.

"I think what people find so appealing about us is that we’re not preachers. We’re not singing to preach, we’re singing to inspire and that’s what makes our appeal so universal.

"We can sing to countries all over the world who believe in different religions but everyone can relate to what we’re singing about because it’s all about suffering. Who can’t relate to that?

The Harlem Gospel Choir’s show, Remembering Michael Jackson, will be at the Concert Hall at QPAC, Southbank, on Thursday. May 6.

oooo i live in australia i was in the city the other day and saw the poster on a art centre my friend pointed it out to me lol i want to go see it but u guys said they only do three songs? mmmm dunno might give it a miss it would be cool though
 
These colored boys look like good Christian folks and they're honoring MJ to boot. They're well worth your time and money. I wish I could check them out in person.
